ABOUT ME

Marissa Slate, PT, DPT

Owner and Treating Pediatric Physical Therapist

Hi there! My name is Marissa and I have been practicing as a pediatric physical therapist since 2016. I am a board certified specialist in pediatric physical therapy and children and their families are my passion! I serve on the South Carolina State Physical Therapy Board of Directors and I am a State Pediatric Advocacy Liaison (SPAL) for the Academy of Pediatric Physical Therapy (APPT). I am both a mentor and faculty for two pediatric physical therapy residency programs: Brooks Institute of Higher Learning in Jacksonville, FL and Medical University of South Carolina here in Charleston.

In addition, I am a mom to two beautiful children! As a parent myself,  I also prioritize maternal and/or paternal mental health. I will therefore assist parents in obtaining resources to address this if needed or requested.

I strive to advocate for my patients and their families locally and nationally. I will ensure that you and your child are connected with the appropriate resources to facilitate gross motor development. Above all, you should know that the families I treat are my top priority and I will work with you to ensure that your personal goals for your child are addressed.

EARLY INTERVENTION SERVICES

How the Process Works

Please see the graphic on the right hand side which details how Early Intervention works. If your child is under the age of 3, they qualify to receive Early Intervention services through BabyNet.

If your child is over the age of 3 and does not have an Early Interventionist or Service Coordinator, I am still able to provide services at home or the natural environment (i.e., park, playground, library, etc.). All you would need to obtain to begin is a referral/prescription from your child's pediatrician.
